Good trail reading for the Peak District and for the times we find ourselves in  – The Ascent of Kinder Scout by Peter Riley (with beautiful cover art by Paul Evans of Kinder Downfall) is light in your pack, but threads heavyweight themes of trespass and civil disobedience, with ideas of Europe, migration and public access, but chiefly commemorates the protest at Kinder Scout in 1932 that ultimately helped lead to the formation of the Countryside and Rights of Way act (CRoW), an act which enshrines our right to roam. And right now? We could all do worse than to get out there and clear our heads of all the bullshit…
